Noel Diamond: My biggest regret is that I did not become a musician
Noel Diamond, singer, songwriter and producer, has spoken about his greatest regret in the musical world.
Key points:Diamond was a founding member of The Bachelorette, the ABC hit TV show.
He has written and produced songs for hit movies, including Gladiator, Jurassic Park and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2.
Diamond said he was disappointed to be asked to join the Bachelor franchise, but he was still very happy with his time on the show.
“I didn’t feel like I was really contributing to anything and the world as a whole,” he said.
“You can say I was on a show that I didn’t really believe in, but I really felt like I had a real connection with the fans, and the people I worked with and I had that bond with.”
It was a very exciting time for me.
I was living a life where I was making money and being able to get to know the people around me and I was also having fun.
“The Bachelor was a lot of fun, and that’s why I’m so proud of it.”
He said he still got a lot out of the show, but felt like he had wasted some time.
“There was a time in my life where you get a little bit of time out of it, but you can’t take it back because the world’s going to be watching,” he added.
“When I’m on the other side of that and I’m sitting on the beach and thinking about all the people who’ve done this for me, it just really hurts me.”
He’s not the only Bachelorettes to express regret about the show in the past.
After appearing on the first episode, Chris Soules said he felt he had no chance to become a successful songwriter.
“They were like, ‘Well, we don’t know if you can write a song for the Bachelor,’ and I think it’s a big mistake to assume you can,” he told 702 ABC Melbourne.
“If you’re not going to do that, then you’re going to have to get a bit more creative with the song.”
Soules said the producers didn’t have a choice but to cast a woman, who he feels was a better fit for the show than his female partner.
“At the time, I was so excited to be on the Bachelor,” he explained.
“That’s why my whole goal in life was to get into the Bachelor and it was just such a great opportunity to get out and have that experience.”
But then after a while I think the producers lost faith in me, and when they did lose faith in you, it’s really hard to find a new outlet for your creativity.
