Australia’s top performing acts at the Commonwealth Games are being named in the songbook as they prepare for their big night on June 5.
The Commonwealth Games have long been known for their large venues, but this year they are also set to host the world’s largest music event.
The annual Games are the largest sporting event in the world, attracting an estimated 11 million people, and many of the most popular acts in the country are expected to perform at venues in Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.ABBA have already been given a go-ahead to perform a number of songs during the Games, and will be performing Take Your Time in Perth on June 1.
“They’re going to be very, very good and we’re very excited about it,” Abba head of global music David Dutton told the ABC.
“We’re very happy with the performance, and obviously we’re looking forward to it and seeing them again.”ABBA’s performance will also feature songs from their latest album, Take Your Care, and is set to be followed by an ABBA rendition of the anthem You Are the One, which the group have performed many times before.
“You Are the one is a very special song, and we have a lot of love for the band, so it’s going to go on our big night,” Dutton said.
“But we’re going through a lot, it’s very, we’re trying to do it right.”ABBADOO have already performed the song Take Your time in Perth before, and the band are planning to perform Take YourTime at this years Commonwealth Games.
“It’s one of our favourites songs and we’ll be very proud of it,” Durden said.
The music industry is already seeing ABBA’s big night as a huge success, with the company selling out its Melbourne venue for its big night, selling out three of the six venues that will host the Games in Melbourne.
“Our record-breaking attendance and our capacity and capacity at the venues will be absolutely phenomenal,” Abbatoo CEO James White told the WABC.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for us to see what the future holds for the Commonwealth, and this is a really exciting time for the industry.”
White said ABBA was looking forward the big night in Perth.
“The crowd is going to take a lot from us, they’re going be very vocal, they’ll be talking,” White said.ABBBA’s biggest hits, including Take Your TIME, are set to rock the arena on June 3, and could be followed up by an Australian rendition of Take Your Love, which will be performed on June 7 at the same venue.ABUBA, who are set for their first world tour since 2009, were a regular on the Australian TV screens and radio in the early 1990s.”ABBA is a great example of what the world can do,” White told WABC in 2014.
“If there’s something that is a bit of a problem, we can come and do a bit and that’s a good way to get the audience involved.”
“We’ve never had anything like this before in the history of music in Australia, and it’s been a huge inspiration for us.”
White also said ABBADO were very excited for the chance to perform their hit Take Your Life, which is set for an Australian release later this year.
“This is our big show for them, so we’re excited about that, and of course we’ll definitely be doing Take Your Choice in Perth,” he said.ABC/AAP
